Geocache Description:

IMPORTANT - PLEASE READ. A metal sleeve has been added in this geocache to deter rodents from living inside. It will be super important to put the plastic geocache box back inside the metal sleeve, and to put the metal sleeve (with the plastic geocache box inside it) back in the wooden box with the opening DOWN. If the metal sleeve is put back in the wooden box the wrong way rodents will continue to get inside the box. Have fun!

This geocache is intended to be a family oriented cache for those who like to get "outdoors". The hike is approximately 1.0 mile roundtrip, all on developed state park roads and trails at Luckimute State Park, on the Willamette River Greenway. Please stay to established roads and trails; it is not necessary to "bushwhack" to find this cache.
Located in Luckimute Landing State Park, this geocache is placed as part of a Boy Scout Eagle Project.  The specific project helped the park (and the Wood Ducks that nest in the park) by constructing and installing twelve new Wood Duck nesting boxes, and added to the existing trail system.  The purpose of this geocache is to add to the geocaching fun currently located in the park, and to show boy scouts, and park users, a BSA Eagle Project.
Start at the South Luckimute Landing parking lot.  Stop and read the park information board so you know the park rules.
If you would like to see a Wood Duck box before hitting the trail, enter the coordinates of Reference Point #1.  Navigate to the edge of the trees and look into the brush about 20 feet and you should see a wooden “box” attached to a 4”x4” wood post.  This is a nesting box for a Wood Duck.  If you just want to hit the trail enter the coordinates of the Trailhead.
Stop at Reference Point #2 and look north across the field.  About 400’ away just inside the edge of the trees you will see a tan colored post with a tanned colored rectangle at the top of the post – another Wood Duck box.
Continue along the gravel service road to GZ.  You will never have to leave the road to find this cache.  The cache is located within 5’ of the edge of the gravel road.  If you are bushwhacking about you are off course (and quite likely walking through poison oak).  There is a lot of poison oak in this park, so know your poisonous plants.
Please remember to replace the pin to keep the door closed.
