Geocache Description:

This cache will take you on a hike up Silver Mountain. Greater than finding the cache, you will come to an amazing vista about 25 meters beyond the cache location. The incline to get to this place isn't overly steep and there is a decent trail to follow the whole way. I have read that people have driven a 4X4 or SUV to the fork on the trail, but having walked the trail I would not recommend it. I hiked from the trailhead and back in an hour and a half. I also continued a ways beyond the cache, scouted for a hiding place, explored an open pit, grabbed some photos, and stopped for a bite to eat in that time frame ... so if you are pressed for time you should be able to get it quicker than it took me to hide it.

Many of the mine shafts can still be found. They have not all been identified and fenced off, though. Please use caution and stay on the main trails. I have identified one open pit that is in an easy to access area. You can see some "sparkly" flecks of silver in the castoff rocks on the ground.

There is some change and a FTF pin for the first to find.

Please do not try and access the location from the east on Old Silver Mountain Rd. While the distance is shorter, it would require you to trespass on private property. The landowner has posted a sign along the trail on crown land to make sure people would know when they would be entering private property and warning them not to trespass.
