Visitors, Welcome to Anacortes. Enjoy our beautiful water front town, forests and islands. One block to the west is Q Avenue. Head south on the sidewalk and you are on the north end of Tommy Thompson trail. After 1/2 mile the trail veers from the road and you can enjoy a 3 mile level walk along the seashore until you come to a trestle that is now for pedestrian and bicycles only. You may see seals, otters, gulls and Pacific loons. I once saw a giant octopus just before starting out on the trestle and once saw a baby otter that was born under the west end of the trestle. And there are several geocaches along the way.
If you would like to ride this trail you can check out a bicycle at the Port marina office. It's free! Or if chess is your game they gave a huge sidewalk chess set.
Thanks for visiting Anacortes.
