Geocache Description:

An easy park-and-grab along the highway on private property, with heavy local nostagia value. Plenty of room for travel bugs and trading items.

You Should'a Been Here Yesterday is a phrase known to the locals of this area where, in the past, and now enjoying a renaissance, people flocked to cool off during the hot days of summer.

Today many families spend summer days sitting around inside their air-conditioned homes playing electronic games not talking to each other. But in the glory days, families packed food and drink and journeyed to the river bank or local sand pit lakes to cool off until the sun set for the day. Or they'd stop for a break on a trip from Omaha to Lincoln to "cool their heels".

If you grew up knowing and loving the likes of Merritt's Beach or Holman's Lake near Plattsmouth
, or another sandy, cool refuge along the shallow Platte River, you'll want to find this cache.

Placed on private property with enthusiastic permission, please don't seek it during the night and risk disturbing the peace.

Explore what's nearby and re-discover the good old days of sand-pit lakes, the sounds of the ever-present breezes through the Cottonwood trees and sand that's hot as blazes in the days of summer, and cool water that's oh-so-soft. Who knows, maybe you will rediscover a forgotten treasure from yesterday.
