Geocache Description:

Photobucket

A navigational scatter event in the Carrick area of South Ayrshire, ending with a Beach BBQ (weather permitting).

Our first event and knowing this time of year brings temperamental weather we wanted something that didn't have to rely on sunshine to make it fun (though it wouldn't hurt!).

We have organised this navigational scatter event to take place Saturday 15th September 2012. Starting co-ords will bring you to Girvan Harbour car park where you can sign in at 12.00 noon.

We ask that you bring a note of geocaching.com usernames for everyone in the car so you can log the event and we will give you all the information you need. Each location will consist of parking co-ordinates where you will leave the car and further destination co-ordinates where you can answer the question posed. Car parking co-ords will be added as waymarks to this listing closer to the time of event. The locations can be taken in any order or route and an answer sheet will be considered complete if 70% of the locations have been visited . Points will be awarded according to the difficulty of the questions and the team with the highest points on the day wins.

There is no 'race' to finish so feel free to take your time to stop for a stroll, to log a cache you may be near / pass or even to place a new cache of your own in this relatively quiet caching area. The idea is of a stress free meander around towns and villages, exploring and enjoying what they have to offer.

At around 3pm head back to the Harbour at Girvan where those of you who packed a coolbox (or visited nearby little supermarket) can use our BBQ and utensils. If the weather is rainy and/or windy then we can always retreat to the closest hotel or chip shop for a hot drink and geo chat instead ;)

The southern most parts of South Ayrshire are lovely and have a lot to offer the residents and visitors BUT competitively priced fuel is not one of them so we do suggest you 'fill up' before Girvan ;)

As this is a Navigational Scatter Event there is no need to restrict vehicle numbers - this form of event is considered automatically authorised under Regulation 4(b) of the Motor Vehicles (Competitions & Trials) (Scotland) Regulations 1976.

Please only log 1 attending per car and let us know how many people you expect to have in the car. Thanks xx
