Geocache Description:

This easy cache has an incredible view of Crail harbour as it is atop a HUGE cliff on which some castle or another sits.

Crail Harbour used to be the most frequented one in Fife (as opposed to Anstruther) until boats began to get bigger when naval technology improved, and its quaint but small entrance became a bit of a squeeze. It was then that Anstruther's harbour suddenly got a whole lot more popular with its wider entrance. In turn Anstruther itself increased in size to handle the boom in residents.

From the GZ you can the Isle of May, approx. 5 miles away with 3 separate lighthouses: the older, 17th century one ran on coal, until it was replaced with a new, 19th century electric beacon and a secondary one. The name "Isle of May" is disputed as to where it comes from, but it's commonly believed to mean Isle of Seagulls, which would make sense, having been there. The island is 1.8 km long and half a kilometre wide.

Nearby is an excellent cafe with a view nearly as good as the cache location, if you want to take a break after your adventures!
Optional challenge: for bonus (not to mention fictional) points, take a picture of the view with yourself or your trusty GPS in it. :)

Bring your own pencil, please!
