Geocache Description:

I'm always surprised at the number of people who don't know that this small nature reserve exists within the large industrial estate of Trafford Park. This is a relatively easy micro.

The site of Trafford Ecology Park is pretty much all that is left of the area owned by the 'De Trafford' family and their estate; the lake in the park is the remainder of the estate's boating lake, which has been recovered and rescued from industrial tipping and foundry waste left there in the middle part of the 20th century. It was purchased from Esso in 1973 by Trafford Council as 'derelict land' to turn into an ecology park, and is currently run by Groundwork Salford and Trafford.

There are benches and picnic tables inside the park, which is open 9-4pm Monday to Friday (ex bank hols) (accurate 03/2021), but this cache is accessible at all times of day. If you can get there whilst it's open, it's worth a look around and an explore.

For further information about the park, see the related webpage link above.

There is no pen in the cache, so please bring your own; the cache is a large micro. Room for geocoins; small travel bugs may fit if you're lucky! PLEASE replace exactly where found - it is accessible both when the gates are open and shut in this location. The trucker muggles (truckles? truggles?) won't be a problem for you if they're parked near GZ as they'll probably be sleeping!

Congrats to phspid for the FTF!
