Geocache Description:

A Unique Cache along the Omaha Bike Trail!

This Cache is located along the Omaha Bike Trail which opened in 1992, The Omaha Trail is on what was once the Chicago & Northwestern Railroad Line.  It Features an 875-foot tunnel, one of four in the state. The Tunnel was built in 1876 and had doors on both ends, there was a watchman at the tunnel from 1910 to 1947.  The last Northwestern train went through the tunnel on March 25, 1987.  The Cache is a very unique one, and is located near one of the railroad bridges, which now instead of supporting trains holds up bikes in the summer and snowmobiles in the winter.  If your going to bike, the trail happens to be paved with blacktop all the way from Elroy to Camp Douglas where it starts and ends.  Don't forget to bring a flashlight and a light jacket, the tunnel is very cold year round.  Don't forget to catch the other cache's that are along the trail.  If you don't feel like biking there is a cross road that you can park by and walk the short distance to the cache.
