Geocache Description:

This geocache was part of the GeoVenture Challenge: The Survival Test on August 25, 2012. The weekend event was hosted

by the Manitoba Geocaching association. Most of the 35 Geocaches placed during this challenge featured a survival type

question. An example of that question and the information that inspired that question may be below.

The entire series was designed to be a park and grab power series to be published after the event. Enjoy!

Q3: Australian natives can sometimes collect up a liter of water per hour in the mornings by?

  1. Peeing into a filtered cup
  2. Going on walkabout
  3. Tying rags or tufts of grass around their ankles and walking through grass
  4. Digging a hole with a didgeridoo and sucking through a straw at the end
Answer: C. Tying rags or tufts of grass around their ankles and walking through grass

Several sources cite this advice for procuring water.

Heavy dew can provide water. Tie rags or tufts of fine grass around your ankles and walk through dew-covered grass before sunrise. As the rags or grass tufts absorb the dew, wring the water into a container. Repeat the process until you have a supply of water or until the dew is gone. Australian natives sometimes mop up as much as 1 liter an hour this way.
