This geocache has been placed with the kind permission of the RSPB.
6th cache in a series of 6 on a circular route approx 3km (1.75 miles) - Allow up to 2 hours to complete the route.
The crags on the left where the trail begins are called Allt Y Gribin. There are magnificent views of the surrounding hills on the walk up to the waterfall and on the way back down.
Note As sheep and lambs roam freely in the area please keep dogs on a lead.
About the Cache
If you are continuing the route from RC07, ignore the RSPB Green Trail marker and turn right on to the main Bala road. As there are no pavements along the road care should be taken, especially if accompanied by children. Continue along the Bala road to the T-Junction with the B4393.
The cache contains a log only, please bring your own pen. The container is unsuitable for travel bugs, coins or swag.
Peregrine
The peregrine is a large powerful falcon with the female being noticeably larger than the male. Adult is dark bluish grey above with under parts white to warm buff colour, densely barred black, but chin and cheeks are white with conspicuous black lobe-like stripe from beak to its eye. The under wing is lightly barred with little contrast between coverts and flight feathers. The actual speed of the stoop by which its prey is caught is the subject of much debate, but can reach 100 and 200 mph.
These birds have been seen on the Lake Vrynwy RSPB reserve so as you continue along the route back towards your car you might just get to see one.
