The Fingal Wildlife Management Area, (FWMA), is the former site of the Number Four Bombing And Gunnery School, operated under the British Commonwealth Air Training Plan, (BCATP), from November 25th 1940, to February 17th 1945. The RCAF abandoned this site in June of 1961, and sold it to the Province of Ontario in September of 1965. It is comprised of 720 acres of land.
Permission to place these caches has been granted by both the Ministry of Natural Resources and the Elgin County Stewardship Council. Hunting is allowed within the confines of the FWMA when in season, so cachers should be aware of this when caching here. Also, all caches are placed reasonably close to trails within the FWMA so there is no need for traveling through agricultural crops or bushwhacking Although several of these caches may appear to be roadside grab and go’s, all are within the confines of the FWMA and must be accessed from within the grounds.
