St Andrew's Church
The largely Perpendicular style church is surrounded by the Celtic churchyard and is 335 feet above sea level. Its commanding position on a steep escarpment overlooking the River Tamar is a landmark seen from afar and it had magnificent views from the northern churchyard before the trees grew so tall.
THE CACHE IS NOT AT THE LISTED COORDINATES
These coordinates will take you to an interesting memorial in the churchyard where you will need to find some information to work out the final position for the cache. The memorial was erected by Elijah and Maria Gale in affectionate remembrance of their dearly beloved sons, Harry and Shadrach. Harry's and Shadrach's graves are in the USA but Elijah and Maria were both later buried here. "All united".
In April 2012 a short memorial service was held at this spot to mark 100 years of the tragedy that led to Harry's and Shadrach's deaths.
Harry was aged AB years.
Shadrach was aged CD years.
Maria died May E 1922 aged FG years.
Elijah died H November 1936 aged JK years.
