Geocache Description:

Small Bison hidden on a short walk from Howden to Eastrington along footpaths.  (Will require Tweezers) Or going in the opposite direction as a walk including some of our other caches in the area.  By starting at "National divided by 2" or "A Walker" and following the footpaths you can have a nice walk to the edge of Howden and pick up a few geocaches along the way.

The area around the cache could get a little murky in the winter depending what the farmers activities are.  The cache is on a path that leads from Eastington to Howden.  There is little parking at the start of the path but plenty at Eastrington Nature Reserve.  The actual hiding place is on the former Barnsley to Hull railway line.  This line existed to transport coal from the mines in South Yorkshire to the docks at Hull in the days this country sold its coal overseas.  Howden and Eastrington, one a small market town and one a small village, both had two railway stations, one for each line.  They crossed each other about 100 yards east of the cache and you will hear and see trains running on the remaining live line to Hull.  The cache is situated at the entrance to a tunnel that has since disappeared thanks to Dr Beeching.
