Geocache Description:

The second cache of my Triforce Challenge Series, although it can be found as a stand-alone cache.  The series will take you to seven different locations throughout Deep River, Chester, and East Haddam.  If you are planning to find the final cache of the series, Ganon’s Tower, you will need the information found within it.  Do not forget to record the number you find inside this cache!

Power.  Wisdom.  Courage.  These are the three attributes held in perfect balance in the Triforce, the ultimate source of power in the Legend of Zelda video game series and has thus become its most recognized symbol.  It recently dawned on me that it could be argued that these three attributes need to be held by geocachers (although sometimes power may need to be replaced with stealth.)  For this reason I decided to create a geocaching homage to my favorite of the Zelda series, The Ocarina of Time.  The Triforce Challenge contains seven individual caches, the first six of which can be obtained as their own finds.  However, like the hero of the Zelda series, Link, you will need the treasure found within each temple to find your way to the seventh and final cache of the series, Ganon’s Tower.

Link’s second stop on his journey to awaken the sages was Kokiri Forest, and the temple located deep within it.  The forest inhabitants, the Kokiri, were interesting beings with whom Link had grown up with.  These children could never leave the forest, but they also would never age.  When Link returned to them as an adult, he was not recognizable to them although for him they had not changed a bit.

After passing through the village, Link had to navigate the twisting labyrinth of the Lost Woods before finally reaching the Forest Temple.  Buried deep within the forest, this temple resembled a long deserted mansion swarming with ghosts, skeletons, and other nasty creatures.  Link was rewarded for his endeavors in the temple with the Fairy Bow, a tool he used to defeat the boss of the Forest Temple, Phantom Ganon.  Free of its curse, Link’s friend Saria was able to awaken as the Sage of Forest and aide Link by lending him her power in the form of the Forest Medallion.

Cache can be obtained by hiking through the “Lost Woods.”  You’ll want the RED TRAIL.  Parking and trail maps can be found at the trailhead on Rt. 154 in Deep River.  All cache containers in the series are the same size and shape, with a Triforce emblazoned on their lids.  Inside, you will find the medallion of the temple, marked with a single piece of the coordinates you will need to obtain the cache at Ganon’s Tower.  Enjoy your journey, and may the goddesses watch over you!

*NathanDrake42 and TheForestMinuet really got into the Zelda spirit and left a signature card to enhance this cache. Enjoy their craftsmanship but please leave the card inside the cache*

**Congrats to MrsSherlockHolmes for FTF on this cache, and the whole series!**

Next on your adventure is GC3V7RH, the Fire Temple.
