Geocache Description:

The third cache of my Triforce Challenge Series, although it can be found as a stand-alone cache.  The series will take you to seven different locations throughout Deep River, Chester, and East Haddam.  If you are planning to find the final cache of the series, Ganon’s Tower, you will need the information found within it.  Do not forget to record the number you find inside this cache!

Power.  Wisdom.  Courage.  These are the three attributes held in perfect balance in the Triforce, the ultimate source of power in the Legend of Zelda video game series and has thus become its most recognized symbol.  It recently dawned on me that it could be argued that these three attributes need to be held by geocachers (although sometimes power may need to be replaced with stealth.)  For this reason I decided to create a geocaching homage to my favorite of the Zelda series, The Ocarina of Time.  The Triforce Challenge contains seven individual caches, the first six of which can be obtained as their own finds.  However, like the hero of the Zelda series, Link, you will need the treasure found within each temple to find your way to the seventh and final cache of the series, Ganon’s Tower.

After his victory in the Forest Temple, Link headed back to a place he had been as a child, Death Mountain.  High atop its peaks, the peaceful, rock-eating Goron race had built their city and Link had aided them in his childhood.  When he returned to the city however, he found it almost entirely abandoned.  The remaining Goron child, who just so happened to also be named Link, told Link how all of the Gorons had been trapped inside the Fire Temple in order to be sacrificed to the dragon who lived there.  Link, our hero, set off to the Fire Temple with his new red tunic, clothing that would protect him from the intense heat.

The Fire Temple, appropriately enough, was built inside the crater of the active volcano inside Death Mountain.  Inside, Link met his old friend and sworn brother, Darunia, leader of the Gorons.  Darunia tasked Link while traveling through the temple to free all of the Gorons trapped inside while he took care of the dragon.  After traveling through rooms with walls of flame, boiling lava floors, and enemies trying to set him ablaze, Link was rewarded with the Megaton Hammer and used this to defeat Volvagia, the dragon that had been terrorizing the temple.  Darunia then awoke as the Sage of Fire and gave the Fire Medallion to Link as a sign of his thanks and friendship.

With no active volcanoes in the immediate area, this cache is instead hidden on the grounds of a modern day fire temple.  Parking can be found across the street at the Chester Public Library.  All cache containers in the series are the same size and shape, with a Triforce emblazoned on their lids.  Inside, you will find the medallion of the temple, marked with a single piece of the coordinates you will need to obtain the cache at Ganon’s Tower.  Enjoy your journey, and may the goddesses watch over you!

*NathanDrake42 and TheForestMinuet really got into the Zelda spirit and left a signature card to enhance this cache. Enjoy their craftsmanship but please leave the card inside the cache*

**Congrats to MrsSherlockHolmes for FTF on this cache, and the whole series!**

Next on your adventure is GC3V7RT, the Water Temple.
