Geocache Description:

A small log only cache. Cache placed for the NM Centennial: 4th Picnic in the Pines Event. This is part of a series of caches celebrating Manufacturing in New Mexico.

Congratulations & Thanks ~ bob8bear and nodderbug for the FTF~ Delrin is the commercial name for Polyoxymethylene (POM).  It is often refered to as Delrin in machine shops.  It is an engineering thermoplastic used in precision parts that require high stiffness, low friction and excellent dimensional stability.  It machines easy and has excellent finish qualities.

It was developed in the 1920’s and has been called many brand names by manufacturers.  Delrin is what M16’s are made of.  The idea of a plastic rifle was revolutionary at the time, and well, a large number of A1s are still in good condition today, so it obviously lives up to durability.

The cache you are looking for was a dimensionally scrapped part that I made to be a shipping container for a laser lens and housing.  It was machined  on a Hardinge CNC turret lathe.

Check out the mural.
The mural at the cache location was painted by a local muralist and musician named Ruben Vail.

~Congratulations to bob8bear and the nodderbugs for the CO-FTF~
