Geocache Description:

Parking: N 47° 18.050 W 122° 11.023 This cache celebrates a unique feature of Auburn Narrows Natural Area, which is located just east of Auburn on the Green River. Just downstream from a salmon hatchery, the 107-acre site offers a short walk on trails through habitat restoration projects to the river and is a popular fishing spot.

The natural area supports open meadows, wetlands and side channels adjacent to the Green River, and stands of mature cottonwood floodplain forest. Auburn Narrows has had several large and small habitat restoration projects installed over the last decade. The former agricultural fields on the eastern half of the property now support a new side channel to the Green River, a large wetland, and areas where invasive control and plantings are re-establishing forests at the site.

The Auburn Narrows cache was originally placed by King County Conservation Futures as one of twenty caches in their GeoTour which, consequently, was the "first ever GeoTour in the state of Washington." King County's Conservation Futures program sponsored Washington's" first ever GeoTour" in celebration of it's 30 year anniversary of Conservation Futures (1982-2012).
