Geocache Description:

A bison hidden in the American Philatelic Center - (the historic restored Pennsylvania Match Factory) - home of the American Philatelic Society and American Philatelic Research Library. (replaces a cache archived in February 2012)

The Pennsylvania Match Factory was built in 1899 and operated until 1947. All the matches supplied to GIs in WW II were made here. The complex was purchased by the American Philatelic Society in 2002 and is in the process of being restored. Restoration was completed in Juily 2016.
This is a quick park and grab near an re-landscaped part of the property, but afterwards walk or drive around to the back and take a minute to look at the monument to the aviators who flew the first transcontinental airmail in 1924. (Monument is near 40º 54.580, 75º 47.040) Bellefonte was the first stop on the New York to San Francisco route.
Then step inside the restored Match Factory (Hours are 8 to 4:30 M to F), visit the Stamp Museum and the Healdsville Post Office, on loan from the Smithsonian.
Whether you are a stamp collector or not, you'll find this an educational visit.
