Quick cache for the families that visit here from all over the country!
The name is in reference to my co-workers from other bases always making fun of the fact that there is a Navy base in the middle of the country! I've worked as a civilian at Great Lakes Naval Training Center since 1991 and got in to geo-caching in 2007. It surprises me that there was never a cache placed for all the Navy families visiting their graduates and for all the reunions that congregate here so I thought it would be nice. This is a fairly easy park and grab (although snow may make it slightly more difficult.) Please be kind to the location. Enjoy!
It is located in a small parking area just east of the housing area in an old part of the VA Hospital quarters. These old homes are now located on Rosalind Franklin University property so occasionally there are school security around. They know about the cache. Should be a quick grab. Good luck!
