Geocache Description:

This geocache celebrates my fifth geoversary.

The cache is not at the listed coordinates

I took a GIS course at NWCC in September, 2007. The first night in class, the teacher was going over the uses of a GPS device and asked if anyone knew what geocaching was. I had heard of it, but in my mind, it was something done by people somewhere else. He then pulled out some geocache pages that he had printed out and passed them around.

"Wait a minute, these are around here......in Senatobia!!"

That night I got the Etrex out and figured out how to enter coordinates into it and on the way to work I went to where I thought it was showing me. There, on the front of the building, was a lump of metal stuff just sitting there. After trying to figure out where to open it, I gave up. At break I went to the instructors office and told him where I'd been and what I had found. He simplified it for me by telling me..

"Its a silver thing hanging on a nail on the back of the building, dummy!"

At noon, I was off again on the search. As I went to the back, I hesitated because it was all grown up and there were bees and other varmits in there. Finally after getting the courage up to wade in there, I found a silver pill fob. When I opened it and read the log sheet, I was dizzy with excitement and my imagination was running wild thinking about all the strangers that had been in this very place, doing the same thing that I was doing, and where they were from and where they were going. I felt like I was a part of some underground society. That afternoon, on the way home from work, I found my second geocache, which was the first ammo can I had ever seen, and it was on!!!!

Five years later, I'm still dizzy with excitement, my imagination is still running wild, I still think about all the strangers that have gone before me doing the same thing. Fortunately I have met lots of geocachers and they aren't all strangers to me anymore. It's been a fun, educational, adventuresome time the past five years and I'm looking forward to much more fun and adventure. Thank you to everyone who has hidden a geocache, found one of mine, or included me in your adventures. What a long, strange trip it's been!

Be aware that there are lots of snakes in the area and wild hogs. I wouldn't recommend going by yourself unless you're experienced and comfortable in wild places or just dumb like me.

Be sure to fill out a visitors card when entering the WMA and follow the instructions!
