"Lejonkulan"
Civilförsvarets sambandscentral i Laggarebacken började byggas 1972 och stod klar att tas i drift 1976. Det var en de modernaste anläggningarna på sin tid. Ytan inne i bergrummet är 1500 kvadratmeter.
Bergrummet fungerade från 1976 och framåt som en sambandscentral inom civilförsvaret för regionen Alingsås, Lerum, Vårgårda och Herrljunga.
Centralen stod redo för drift med två timmars varsel och på den tiden skulle hela anläggningen kunna startas upp.
Det var meningen att 55 personer skulle klara sig inne i bergrummet under 3 månader och för att klara detta hade man: egen elkraft, två borrade brunnar - en inne i berget och en utanför samt diesel för drift av generatorerna. Dock fanns ingen mat lagrad inne i berget utan detta skulle köras ut i händelse av krig.
Anläggningen var gasskyddad mot de flesta gaser inklusive radioaktiva gaser med bland annat stora filter, den enda gasen som man inte kunde filtrera bort var koldioxid. Den var även tänkt att stå emot en eventuell atombombsprängning och byggnaden där ledningscentralen är inrymd är fjädrande upphängd.
Entreprenören Curt Carlsson köpte bergrummet 2003 och genomförde moderniseringen av bergrummet till den standard det har nu. Anläggningen fick då namnet ”Lejonkulan”.
Bergrummet används idag för olika evenemang, såsom bröllop, dop, föreläsningar, kalas, svensexa och möhippa med mera och utanför bergrummet står idag även en hinderbana som är ansedd som en av landets tuffaste.
”Lejonkulan” – “The Lion’s Den”
The Civil Defence Liaison at Laggarebacken was built in 1972 and was ready for operation in 1976. It was one of the most modern liaisons of its time. The area of the cavern is 1500 square meters.
This liaison operated from 1976 onwards as a bunker in the civil protection program for the region. Alingsås, Lerum, Vårgårda and Herrljunga were able to use the facility. The liaison had to be ready and fully operational within two hours’ notice.
It was intended for 55 people to operate inside the cavern for 3 months, and to do this they had their own electrical power, two wells drilled - one inside and one outside the mountain as well as diesel fuel for the operation of the generators. However, there was no food stored inside the mountain, but this would be delivered to the facility in the event of war.
The facility was gas shielded against most gases including radioactive gases using large filters. The only gas that could not be filtered out was carbon dioxide. The bunker was also meant to withstand a possible nuclear explosion.
Contractor Curt Carlsson bought the cavern in 2003 and made the modernization of the cavern to its current standards. The facility was at that time called “Lejonkulan” – “The lion’s den”.
The cavern is currently used for events such as weddings, christenings, lectures, parties, bachelor and bachelorette parties and more and outside the cavern there is now an obstacle course, which is considered one of the toughest ones in the country.
