Geocache Description:

Join us as we clean up the shores of Webb Memorial Park as part of COASTSWEEP 2013 - The Massachusetts Annual Statewide Coastal Cleanup!

Webb Memorial State Park in Weymouth is located on a peninsula that extends nearly half a mile into the Hingham Bay area of Boston Harbor. It is composed of three connected drumlins and a low marsh area.

In the 1860s the peninsula was the location of the Bradley Fertilizer factory, and was used for dumping industrial waste. In the 1950s it was used to house Nike missle launchers. The missile site was deactivated in 1974, and in 1977 it was transferred to the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. Webb Memorial State Park opened in 1980. Today the park is part of the Boston Harbor Islands National Recreation Area.

Meet us in the parking area at the posted coordinates starting at 8:30 for some coffee and socializing. At 9:00 we'll grab our trash bags, get a quick safety briefing and head to work. We'll gather back at the parking area at 11:00 to 'talk trash', fill out our clean up reports, and hand out some swag.
HOPE TO SEE YOU THERE!
