Mount Pleasant Park was officially re-opened on July 21, 2012.
This is a beautiful new park that offers something for everyone: a skateboard park, playgrounds (with offerings we have not seen elsewhere!) suited to kids of all ages and abilities, a basketball court, community garden, lighted pathways, picnic area and free parking. Bring some young caching friends to check out this great new green space!
But, as with many things in life, not everyone considers it a complete success. This space used to house both the Mount Pleasant Community Centre and the Mount Pleasant outdoor pool, one of a handful of outdoor pools remaining in the city.
The former pool was located about where the basketball court now sits with the change rooms and community centre where the big, grassy field is now located.
A brand new Mount Pleasant Community Centre and library was built at #1 Kingsway in a location considered more centrally located in the neighbourhood. But, the pool (which was in need of repairs and/or replacement), was too costly to maintain and no funds existed to replace it.
Although residents and Parks Board staff rallied to save it, the pool was demolished in 2010. The new Hillcrest Pool replaces it though the non-profit society created to save the Mount Pleasant outdoor pool still hopes to replace it one day in this park.
You are seeking a small sized cache that offers minimal space for trade items though geocoins and smaller trackables should fit. Small bison tube for FTF.
Remember this is a very HIGH MUGGLE area. Please use stealth to protect the cache.
