Geocache Description:

A camouflaged tribute to the classic film “Blade Runner” and the novel it’s based on, “Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep?”

“You’re in a desert walking along in the sand, when all of the sudden you look down and you see a tortoise.  It’s crawling toward you. You reach down and you flip the tortoise over on its back. The tortoise lays on its back, its belly baking in the hot sun, beating its legs trying to turn itself over.  But it can’t, not without your help. But you’re not helping. Why is that?”

The above passage is an excerpt from the classic sci fi film, “Blade Runner.”  The question is used in combination with the Voigt-Kampff device to determine whether the test subject is human or android.  The scene includes several questions, but the tortoise question is most frequently quoted by fans.

“Blade Runner” is based on Philip K Dick’s novel, “Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep?”  In the story’s post-apocalyptic future most animals have become extinct, and owning a real, live animal is a sign of status.  The main character, bounty hunter Rick Deckard, would like to own a sheep if he can just come up with the money.

Find the tortoise.  If you find it, you are welcome to trade for a sheep of your very own.  The cache is stocked with 25 sheep for the first 25 finders.  One per person, please.

When you are done please set the tortoise on its belly and place it back exactly as you found it.
