Geocache Description:

The cache is hidden beside one of the tallest constructions in Vilnius.

The MW radio transmitting antenna peaks at 121 meters AGL and is visible from most parts of the city since it is built on one of the tall hills in Virsuliskes. All this multitone steel monster is placed on a ceramic insulator and is reliably supported by two four guy wire sets. The place for the radio station was carefully selected back in 1937, the tower had been erected by 1939, but the rest of equipment failed to get delivered from Warsaw due to WW2. The old antenna was destroyed during the war and rebuilt later by soviets who used the station to rebroadcast Moscow's Mayak along with the local Lietuvos Radijas programs. Times flew and the antenna started hosting Baltijos Bangu Radijas signal since a decade or two ago. They are now running 50KW on 612KHz (hence the cache name) basically European, Polish and Japanese propaganda in Polish, Belarus and Russian languages. Local HAMs ain't very happy with their third harmonic emissions that fall on 1836KHz, an amateur radio frequency.

Don't attempt to get behind the fence unless you have a permit. The cache is hidden inside an acacia tree hollow about a foot AGL on the eastern edge of the security zone some 2.5 tower lenghts from the base of the antenna so you are safe even if the tower falls down at the time you are searching. No need to cross the fence. You are looking for a small round plastic box capable to hold some swag and trackables. No FTF prize, a foreing coin is set to serve as a payment for the initial swag should you decide to sell any.
