Geocache Description:

Another country cemetery!

While walking to GZ, look at the "Haines" family lot marker.  Daniel Haynes died August 2, 1910.  In his will, he stated that his daughter, Katheryn, would have to wait seven more years, until she was 25, to obtain her share of his $100,000 estate. If she married anyone before her 25th birthday, she would not obtain her inheritance.

Katheryn was distraught, being in love with William McQuitty, a young man of their neighborhood.  On February 14, 1911, 6 months after her father's death, Katheryn took her own life with a shot through her heart at the Haines ranch near Udall.

In mourning, William McQuitty also took his own life by shooting himself four days after Katheryn's death.  He is buried beside Katheryn here.

Good luck and enjoy all your caching journeys !!
