No Foundation Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

OReviewer: From the Northern Region Office, New Jersey State Parks Department:

Over a year ago New Jersey enacted a policy that all geocachers must obtain a permit to have their cache on State Park property. We have informed all geocaching host that this is their responsibility and have given them ample time to go about getting their permits. At this time, over a year later, there are still several caches that haven’t complied.

We ask that as the land managers for the attached properties we would like to have these illegal caches removed.

Based on the list provided by the state, I am forced to archive this listing. If you have a permit, get a permit or don't believe your cache is on state park/forest land, please contact me via email. Make sure you include the GC code.

If you don't plan to get a permit, please remove your geocache so it doesn't become geo-trash.

Geocache Description:

This cashe was placed for a night hike for Tri-State Meet, Greet, & Eat:  Year Six.  The group meets usually 1x per month for wonderful food, people, and a night hike.  Check it out! Located in High Point State Park- Route 23 South off of I84. Make the right onto Sawmill Road, which is prior to the State Park enterance. Follow this road for 1.3 miles and you will see AYER'S TRAIL on your right. You can park here or continue on to the lake (0.4 miles) and park there.

The container was given to me by Tri-State Meet, Greet, & Eat's coordinator.  It is a large lock and lock container that was specially painted for the group.  Since this cashe is being placed for a night hike, I chose a location with a fairly level walking service, a wide trail, and not too much of a hike.  The container is filled with small swag items. Prior to Geocashing and knowing who Captain Math was, I was introduced to Letterboxing.  There is a letterbox down this trail as well named Ayer's Farm Surprise.  The description of the location of the letterbox sounded so wonderful that I thought that I would place this cashe nearby and knock another Letterbox off of my list.  The day that we went to place the cashe was another HOT and humid Summer day in 2012.  I was with my mother, twin boys, and our dog.  We were all hot and tired, but the trail was very beautiful, and it just gets better as you continue on.  We wanted to place the cashe in a spot that muggles would not find it and not too far from the parking area.  We didn't spend too much time looking for the letterbox as we became more interested in cooling off and getting out of the spiderwebs that seem to be everywhere that we hike this summer.  The cashe is named No Foundation, as the Letterbox is placed in a foundation, but we never saw a glimpse of the house or the barn foundation.  We will be back in the Fall to place other cashes down this wonderful trail, and to find that foundation! Does anyone know any of the history of the Ayer's Farm?  Enjoy the cashe and please rehide well to protect the special container. There is a lot of room for others to place cashes here too. The park superintendent is aware of the cashe and of the night hike. I am trying to convince her and her son to join us for the event and the hike.
