The design of Section 4 of the North Shore Spirit Trail went through numerous changes in a short period of time, with the City of North Vancouver and the Squamish Nation working together to come up with the best configuration for Trail users. This industrial-zoned area is riddled with new and recent construction, you cross active CN Railway tracks to reach Bewicke Park, and there are a number of waterfront businesses that require access and parking for their customers and staff, but the end result is a significant and welcome improvement over the dusty gravel road that used to be here.
Although very little has changed in tiny Bewicke Park itself, the old wooden hydro pole that held the original cache was removed. I have hidden a slightly larger container, and I am hoping once the landscaping becomes better established and the existing foliage gets spruced up a little I might be able to find a good spot for a decent-sized L&L.
Work has already begun on the next phase of the Spirit Trail, joining the Bewicke Park section with Kings Mill Walk to the west. If you take the east-west connecting route just north of the Yacht Place building (see waypoint) you will find a path that brings you back to the waterfront alongside the Burrard Yacht Club property. The views are incredible so bring a camera!
I hope you enjoy what is sure to become another popular Spirit Trail section along the busy North Van waterfront.
