Folgefonna National Park (Norwegian: Folgefonna nasjonalpark) has an area of 545.2 km². It spans the municipalities of Jondal, Kvinnherad, Etne, Odda and Ullensvang. The national park was opened by Queen Sonja on 14 May 2005. Folgefonna is a collective term for three glaciers in the park, of which the southern one is Norway's third largest glacier.
The highest point of the glacier is 1662 moh., The lowest 400 moh. Folgefonna has several offshoots, including Bondhusbreen, Blomsterskardsbreen and Buerbreen.

Folgefonna (auch Folgefonni genannt) ist der Name eines Gletschers in der norwegischen Region Hardanger. Er ist mit 214 km² der drittgrößte Gletscher Festland-Norwegens (nach Jostedalsbreen und Svartisen). Bei der Unterteilung in die Abschnitte des Gletschers ergibt sich folgende Flächenverteilung: nördlicher Folgefonna 25 km², mittlerer Folgefonna 9 km² und südlicher Folgefonna 180 km².
Der höchste Punkt des Gletschers ist 1662 moh., der niedrigste 400 moh. Der Folgefonna hat mehrere Ausläufer, u. a. Bondhusbreen, Blomsterskardsbreen und Buerbreen.

Zum Cache:
Da in dieser Gegend noch Platz für einen Tradi ist, haben wir einen an dieser Stelle platziert. Zum loggen kann man sich auch gern auf die Bank setzen, zum Gletscher schauen und die Ruhe genießen bevor es weiter zum nächsten Cache geht...
