Geocache Description:

The Scramble not to be Forgotten

Embark on your journey from the Perry Creek trailhead, where the inviting path welcomes you with its gentle ease. In just a brief span of miles, a delightful surprise awaits – the unveiling of a previously concealed waterfall, gracefully revealing itself as you venture onward. Here, pause and allow yourself to catch your breath, finding solace in this picturesque moment. Beyond the cascade, traverse the river by way of a colossal fallen tree. As the trail unfurls, a fork emerges ahead. Disregard the leftward path and instead follow the one that winds its way uphill, a gradual ascent that meanders through ancient foliage until it reaches the ridge line. Remain vigilant for a subtle offshoot to the left at a switchback – a path leading to the grandeur of Stillaquamish Peak, a future expedition to consider. At the juncture where the trail converges with the ridge, an early-season campsite materializes, emerging from the thaw. Continuing onward, merely ten minutes after conquering the ridge, you arrive at the captivating expanse of Forgotten Meadows. This splendid alcove presents an enchanting tableau, adorned with blooms, serene tarns, and rugged rock formations that pay homage to the essence of the Forgotten. Prepare yourself for a shift in terrain, as the trail steepens and undulates, occasionally exposing you to the elements. Tracing the contours of the right flank of MF (presumably Mount Forgotten), the path guides you toward a vast plateau nestled on MF's far side. Here, a haven for camping unveils itself, boasting ample space and a steady supply of water and perennial snowmelt. Multiple routes beckon towards the summit, yet exercise caution with the prominent but decaying gully that leads from the plateau. For both safety and preservation reasons, an alternate course of action might be prudent. Retracing your steps a mere 150 yards from the plateau, a verdant hillside awaits your discovery. Crowning this eminence are slight cliffs, cradling a well-trodden path that ushers you to the same pinnacle as the ailing gully. Consider employing this route on your descent if it eludes your ascent. Crowning the apex is a petite, rocky summit, commanding panoramic views that sweep across the Monto Cristo expanse, a fitting reward for your intrepid exploration.
