Geocache Description:

Proud Members Of

NOTE: Best done at night using a headlamp, or small handheld flashlight.

Follow Blaze through the forest on a journey to find a special geocache.

We're rating this a 3/3 since it's a night cache and requires using a flashlight...although, more experienced cachers may consider it more of a 2/2. Round trip is more than 1/2 mile and less than 2 miles (assuming you don't get lost).

NOTE: You are responsible for finding your own way back, make sure you have your GPS track log turned on and mark a waypoint to your vehicle.

Begin at the published coordinates (a good place to park). There is a hiking trail (foot traffic only) which crosses the road here. Since this cache is intended to be done at night, we will keep you on the trail to keep things simple (avoiding serious bushwhacking, limiting the chance of getting lost, etc.). If you keep up a brisk hiking pace you could finish this night cache in just under 1 hour...best to allow 1 1/2 or 2 hours in case you get off course, have small children to deal with, or simply want to take things at a slower relaxed pace.

A few yards from the edge of the woods you should find your first single reflector.

Follow the trail of single reflectors...except for a few rare instances, they are fairly evenly spaced. They may be on either the left or right side of the trail, so pay attention.

After you've been walking a while, you'll notice the trail will change from single reflectors to double reflectors.

There are a few double reflectors, just in case you miss one or two. It's time to pay a little extra attention, as you're starting to get close to the final. Continue following the double reflector trail until you see a triple reflector.

At the triple reflector you're ready to leave the trail. Don't worry, you won't be going very far and there should be minimal, if any, bushwhacking to reach the final. Standing on the trail you should be able to shine your light into the woods to find another set of triple reflectors pointing at the final location.

You'll find the cache tethered to a pine tree at this final triple reflector.

Did you bring your AFDB?
