Geocache Description:

THE CACHE IS NOT AT THE ABOVE COORDINATES

But it's not too far away. If you've been doing the other planets in the series, you might have a better idea of how far it is. You can do this one by itself, but if you want to do the whole series, you might want to start out at The Sun

Makemake was one of a handful of new planets discovered in the mid 2000s. It’s so new that we still don’t know much about it, going on 8 years after its discovery. There are no plans for any spacecraft to visit Makemake any time soon.

Many people have visited the hiding place of your Makemake though, as the cache is near a popular tourist attraction.

Like the other caches in the series, the cache is both the appropriate size and distance from our sun. It’s not quite at maximum orbit, but it’s pretty close.

There’s plenty of parking and some other amenities near the cache. There are several other great caches in the area if you don’t mind some hiking.

A couple suggestions before you head out caching:

This cache should be available twelve months of the year, but it will definitely be easier some days than others. The terrain rating during good conditions might be considered only a two or a two point five, but during bad weather it’s probably more like a four or greater. There three or four ways to approach the cache but the best is to take one of the two paths out of the overflow parking lot. You shouldn’t have to walk more than five or six hundred meters from there. You’ll be looking for a small bison tube about three inches in length. The hiding spot is sheltered, but please be careful to put the cache back the way you found it. I’d hate for it to get stuck in there.
