Terranora is a rural and growing rural-residential and residential area. Terranora is bounded generally by
Terranora Broadwater in the north, the locality of Banora Point in the east, the Tweed River and the locality of
North Tumbulgum in the south, and the locality of Bungalora and Duroby Creek in the west. Terranora is
thought to be named from an Aboriginal word meaning "small river".
Settlement of the area dates from the mid 1800s, with land used mainly for dairy farming and crop growing.
Significant development did not occur until the 1970s, with substantial growth from the 1980s. Rapid growth
took place from the early 1990s, with the population doubling between 1991 and 2006, a result of new
dwellings being added to the area, particularly during the 1990s.
Major features of the area include Terranora Broadwater, Sepp Wetland, Bungalora Outlook, Chambers
Lookout, Terranora Village Shopping Centre and two schools.
The Cache is a small container with a log book, 4 x free coffee cards for a place in Pottsville, 2 x adults at kids prices for Putt Putt Golf in Mermaid Beach, a 2004 city2surf medalion, a poker chip and USD$1-.
