Wieś Wierzchownia to bardzo urokliwe miejsce położone na terenie Górznieńsko Lidzbarskiego Parku krajobrazowego.
3 kwietnia 1911 r. urodziła się w Wierzchowni słynna lekkoatletka, sprinterka, mistrzyni olimpijska z Los Angeles – Stanisława Walasiewicz (zm. 4 grudnia 1980 r. w Cleveland, Ohio, USA).
W miejscowości znajdziecie drewniane chaty z początku XX w, obecnie jest to wieś letniskowa.
Wierzchownia dawniej była osadą młyńską malowniczo położoną nad niewielkim jeziorem o tej samej nazwie z wyspą na środku. Do dzisiaj stoją tam ruiny młyna wodnego z przełomu XIX i XX w na rzece Pissie.

The Wierzchownia village is a charming place withing the territory of the Górzno-Lidzbark Scenic Park.
On 3 April 1911 a famous athlete, olympic champion from Los Angeles - Stanisława Walasiewicz was born here. She died on 4 December 1980 in Cleveland, Ohio, USA.
You can easily find wooden houses from the early 1900s here. Nowadays the village is more of a holiday place.
Wierzchownia used to be a mill settlement beautifully placed at a small lake of the same name with a island in the middle. There are still some ruins of a water mill from the break 18th and 19th centuries on the Pissa river.
The treasure can be found inside the ruins. You are entering the ruins on your own risk.
