Geocache Description:

This cache is located at the newly built Ranau Sports Complex. The cache name is so because the complex has a history of being called  a white elephant which to me is not necessarily true. Now Ranau folks has started flocking to the complex to play on the fields, the courts and the running tracks. Another phase is going under construction, but public is allow to enter the completed compounds. Even the service counter is now opened.

Among other activities, this complex is one of the place where paragliders and parasailers take off and land. Another site is at Lohan, Ranau. Another reason I picked this place is because this is the nearest place where you can view whats left of the infamous Mamut Copper Mine. The drought river in the valley is the Lohan River which was polluted by the mining activities which had ceased operation since the late 90's. One of the (unexpectedly) place you could see the another polluted river is at The Poring Hot Spring. The river at the entrance where the water is unnaturally white is The Mamut river. No, you cannot bathe in it as it was said that the acidity is too high. Don't worry though, the Kipungit and Langanan waterfall has different sources than the Mamut river.

You will be looking for a small clear container with a clear purple lid. Bring your own pencil/pen.
