This is it! The main attraction of Ranau, always have and always will (IMO of course :)). Tamu (Market) here is held every Saturday morning until evening. A bigger tamu is held every 31st (night) and 1st (day) of every months and the biggest tamu is held on the 30th May until 1st June (night and day) in conjuction with the Tadau Kaamatan (The Harvest Festival).

From pets to local delicacies. Fruits and bundled apparels. You can find everything and anything here. There are some who sells long parangs for souvenirs and not to mention some so-called aphrodisiac plants. Whether you want to look for something, or you want to get down close with the locals, this is the place to go. There are two parts of the market, divided by the main road, but no worries, you can go to the other side via the under-bridge walkway.

Just bear in mind the date for the tamu:

a)Every Saturday
b)31st and 1st of every months
c)30th-1st June

You will be looking for a small clear plastic container with a clear purple lid. Bring your own pen/pencil. The cache is place further from the actual tamu ground but within walking distance, many people walk there, so you shouldn't be lost on your way to the merryment of the tamu. Difficulty rating is based on my assumption that you try out for the cache when the tamu is held; many muggles will be around, but you still should be able to do it stealthily. Tie your shoes, get tired and sit, talk on the telephone, fake photo session if you will. Just do it naturally, because people around this part tend to stare at you (with curiosity) if you did something out of context.

Small note on cache maintenance: There is a local cache guardian. Name and contact info on file with geocaching.com.
