Geocache Description:

++++ Due to the work at Queen Street railway station this cache is currently behind temporary security fencing and will not be available for quite some time +++

An unusual cache found on Guilford Crescent, just off Churchill Way, opposite the Ibis Hotel, in Cardiff City Centre.

The cache is not for the screamish. I learnt to swim in Guildford Crescent Baths, which were located where the Ibis Hotel is now. I spent many a happy hour in one of 2 pools there; one was mixed and one female only.

The scale of Churchill Way (some 33m wide) creates an imposing open streetscape. The former layout was dramatically different, with the open water of the East Bute Dock Feeder and its associated iron railings and planting running north to south along the length of the street. The present form of the street with two carriageways, parking areas and a central reservation has been in place since 1949 and forms an important and significant part of the City Centre streetscape.
