This cache has been placed with the kind permission of the RSPB.

2nd in the series of 11 caches along the Red Trail.

From #1 continue along the woodland path, across a small wooden bridge over a stream and down a slight incline to the road. Turn left and head along the B4393 towards the Boat House.

House Sparrow

The House Sparrow is one of the most well known birds and is often thought of as the most numerous which is far from the case. They are robust, with a broad body and fairly big head with stout bill. Plumage is rather bushy and loose and often looks matted and unkempt. Main features are heavily black-streaked brownish back, squat posture with legs drawn in when perched, and laborious and clumsy 'drilling' flight with continuously whirring wing beats.

These birds have been seen on the Lake Vrynwy RSPB reserve so if you follow this series of caches through the woods and up into the hills you might just get to see a few.

About the Cache

The cache contains a log, pen, a few small items of swag  The container is suitable for small travel bugs or coins and small items of swag and while a pen has been provided you would be wise to bring your own pen.

IMPORTANT NOTE:

  • Due to the nature of the work undertaken by the RSPB, it may at times [such as during the breeding season] become necessary to temporarily disable this cache and we would ask that you respect our decision to do this.
