This cache is on the grounds of the Ropkey Armor Museum, outside Crawfordsville.
The museum is open 10:30am - 4:30pm, Mon - Fri. It is closed during January and February. You can call the museum to arrange an appointment outside the posted hours. There is no admission fee.
The museum houses many types of military vehicles & memorabilia, from "knights in shining armor" to a modern day M109 155mm self-propelled howitzer. The owners have restored the vehicles, and many of them are in working order. There are also outside displays, including some along the edge of the woods.
This cache is a short walk, along the edge of the woods, from the museum building and Armor Men. You can walk down, or you can drive down and park nearby. There is no need to wander far into the woods, please don't do so.
This is an ammo can, hidden next to the path. Plenty of swag to start it, plus $1 for FTF. I've put a pen in with the log, but be prepared in case it disappears.
There will be a convention/rally for the regional Military Vehicle Preservation Association 9/21-22. Visitors welcome, but there may be entry fees charged at that time.
One minor warning - the owners told me that typical car GPS devices will send you in the wrong direction. Make sure you verify your destination with the map and directions on the museum website.
I will be getting more accurate coordinates over the next 10 days (more waypoint averaging), but the posted coordinates should be close enough for most geocachers to find it.
Congrats to Lucky Chavez for FTF!
