This multi cache will lead you through the old parts of Nikiti. Most tourists never cross the main street which leads through Nikiti southwards. All touristic amenities are located in the new part of Nikiti, right along the seaside. However, there is a beautiful and very authentical old part to discover as well. So enjoy your walk along old farm houses and little churches upwards to the top of Nikiti. Don't forget to take water with you! You'll find a tavern and a little cafe aswell in the middle of the old part - perfect places to rest when you come back (and the tavern is absolutely recommended!).
Stage Parking - N 40°13.377 E023°40.140
One important thing about the old part: There is nearly no space left for car parking! So please leave your car around these coordinates to avoid trouble with the neighbourship! After you left your car just follow the street upwards to
Stage 1 - N40°13.631 E023°40.262
When you reached this rather unspectacular place you already passed the true center of Nikiti. This is the place where all the locals meet in the Kafeníon, where the bus to Thessaloniki leaves and where the locals buy their food and stuff in the mini supermarket.
Look around for a telephone/electricity-pole. There is a small metal sign with three greek letters on it. Take the third one, do not care about a greek translation, take it as a latin letter and transform it to a number corresponding to its position in the alphabet (A=1, B=2 etc.) This is A.
Stage 2 - N40°13.[A][A+1]2 E023°40.3[A-2]7
You reached the next center of the old Nikiti. Here you'll find the tavern and the little cafe and this is where the local festivals take place. Take a look at the fountain: How many slots/niches are there around the white center? The number is B.
Stage 3 - N40°13.[A+1]7[ B] E023°40.[ B][A]4
You are now near the main church of Nikiti: Ágios Nikítas. Take a look around the chapel (and maybe inside) and then answer the following question: When you look up from the position of the coordinates you see a small white stone with blue symbols on it (rather surprising symbols in my opinion), a cross and under the cross a number followed by some dots. How many dots are there? This is C.
Stage 4 - N40°14.0[C][ B] E023°40.[ B][A-1][C]
You reached the next little chapel. Above the entrance is a year painted in black on white around a red cross. The last digit of the year (YYYY) is D.
Stage 5 - N40°14.[D][C-1][ B] E023°40.[ B+D][C]0
You made it! You'll not have to climb higher than you are right at the moment ;-). This is the last little chapel along this walk and you may enjoy a spectacular view overlooking Nikiti. You may see the other peninsula Kassándra, the island Kelifós and of course a lot of Sithonía. Last question: How many steps lead to the entrance of the small chapel? This is E.
