Sadly, much of Australia's Aboriginal history is unknown and you often get the feeling that kids today know more about American History then what has happened in our backyard.
This cache is located at the site of the Battle of Yerring. In 1840 Wurundjeri leader Jaga Jaga had been captured and was being held at the Yerring homestead. Reason unknown, but I expect it was because of the colour of his skin. A group of Wurundjeri people approached the homestead with weapons. On seeing this, the police stationed here fired shots and chased the Aboriginals back to the billabong, giving other clans people the opportunity to sneak around and release Jaga Jaga. This site is also supposed to be a massacre site where Aboriginals where killed, but this information is not on the memorial rocks. The cache is an item that may have been used in these battles.
