Geocache Description:

Micro cache at the park!

While going to college in northeast Missouri, I used to pass through this little town all the time. Durham was founded in 1876 and named for a railroadman of the time. The Durham Community Center is the social hub of this small town in northeast Missouri. Its ball field was built in 1994 and plays host to youth and adult leagues. According to the "History of the Durham Community Center," by Mary E. Johnson: "In 1880, the Methodist Church was erected, and is still in use today at the original site directly east of the Community Center....The first school of Durham was called Highland and was located about 1/4 mile south of town. The new Durham grade school was built in 1897, where the present Community Center now stands. A new 2-story brick school building was built in 1916, at a cost of $10,000, at the same site. On December 7, 1962, the building was completely destroyed by fire, and at that time, the school board voted to move the Durham students to Ewing rather than build another school at Durham. At a meeting in 1963, the Community Center of Durham was organized....The property where the school had stood was auctioned off and purchased by the Community Center Committee....an open shelter house with a concrete floor was erected in 1965....In February of 1967, the former Durham PTA donated the remainder of their treasury to help enclose the west end of the building....volunteers from the community help maintain the grounds and building and donate their time and energy, making it a wonderful place to relax with family and friends."

You are looking for a matchholder. Muggles may be present at times, and during ball games it may be impossible to be stealthy enough to retrieve the cache. Permission to place this cache has been granted by the manager of the Durham Community Center. Congrats to awanderer on the FTF!
