This cache has been placed with permission of the Tennessee River Gorge Trust.
The Pot Point House is a beautifully restored cabin used by the Trust and its members as a meeting place and as a site for researchers as they work to document the environment of "Tennessee’s Grand Canyon."
The Pot Point House, the "crown jewel" of the Gorge is surrounded by 491 acres of pristine forest. This 1835-era log cabin was constructed of hand hewed logs and planks which were recycled from a flat boat that wrecked on the boiling pot, an awesome rapid in the Tennessee River.
The Tennessee River Gorge Trust purchased the cabin and surrounding land in 1991 and renovations were underway by 1993. The original section of the cabin, the two main rooms on the lower level, the dog-trot, and the shell of the second level, were left untouched during the renovation. An extension of the lower level including a large meeting room, modern kitchen and handicap accessible restroom was added along with two decks which look out at the Tennessee River.
Today the cabin serves many purposes. Activities include: ongoing research projects with universities and local schools, faculty, board and church retreats, weddings, and special occasion gatherings. This is a very attractive aspect of the Pot Point House because it can serve as a biological field station for one group and the perfect indoor/outdoor wedding setting for the next.
For the outdoor enthusiast there is a 3.5-mile loop trail covering one mile of river frontage as well as 2.5-miles of forest land. Also located at the Pot Point property is a fully accessible boardwalk where one can experience a representative sample of the plants of the Gorge.

This cache is located right off the road. There is a pull off spot for probably one car. You will have to walk into the woods just a little ways, but nothing major. Just like the cache title states, this cache fits "like a glove" in its location.
