Geocache Description:

I have placed this cache in memory of my Dad whose ashes I scatterd on this ground 20 years ago this Sept. Back then this was Holywood Cricket Clubs home ground and it was immaculatly manicured and a placed I loved.

Holywood Cricket Club is a cricket club in HolywoodCounty DownNorthern Ireland, playing in Section 1 of the NCU Senior League.

The club was founded in 1881, originally playing at Kinnegar in Holywood. After a storm blew the pavilion away, the club found a new home in 1885 at Belfast Road,(the land donated kindly by the wealthy Dunville family of Whiskey fame), where it stayed until 1996. The club experienced difficulties in 1997 as a result of the raising by St Paul’s Gaelic Athletic Club on its adjacent pitch, which was used by the cricket club as its outfield. For the 1997 season, the club used Sullivan Upper School, an arrangement that lasted 8 seasons. In 2005, the club moved to a new facility at the ‘Seapark Oval’ that is provided by North Down Borough Council.

I have played many a game on this ground and there is a long family history too as both my father and my grandfather represented the club. It pains me to see it in this state.

The cache itself is a small plastic container containing only a log (you will need your own scribbler). It is well cammoed within a cricket related item. Please be VERY GENTLE with the item as it looks robust but its had modifications . Do not remove tape !!!!!!!!
This cricket related item is hidden too within a cammoed waterproof housing lets just say.

If for some reason you cannot put it back exactly the way you found it, just note it in your log and I will go fix it (but I would prefer it that you were careful....)

The grounds have long grass which can be soft, even waterlogged after heavy rain so wear appropriate footwear. Parking is at Spafield Public Car Park (see way-point for coordinates)
