Geocache Description:

Puylaroque « Pella Roca » est un ancien village fortifié dont l’histoire reste mal connue. En 940, le testament d’un religieux cite Puylaroque.
C’est après la prise et la destruction en 1209 de Puylaroque par les croisés que le village se construit et se développe. Entre 1360 et 1369 le Quercy est aux anglais. En 1483 la peste est au village.
Pendant les guerres de religion le village est successivement aux catholiques puis aux protestants. En 1648 avait été dressé le premier cadastre du village et l’église St Jacques devient paroisse. La seigneurie est érigée en marquisat en 1682.
En 1808, Puylaroque, qui est alors dans le Lot, passe dans le Tarn-et-Garonne qui vient d’être créé. Entre 1865 et 1880, le village compte 1800 habitants.
Après s’être dépeuplé, Puylaroque accueille maintenant une population jeune et dynamique, confiante en l’avenir du village.

Puylaroque, "Pella Roca" in Occitan, is a fortified village mentioned for the first time in 940 AD, in a monks will.
