Kelso Boardwalk Beginnings - Fall into Nature 2012 Traditional Geocache

This cache has been archived.

ConsHaltonCache: Huh, maybe I have not gotten some of the log notifications for this one. But I cannot get out to check right now. I will check and remove next time I am there. Before the reviewer disabling I did not see an indication there was anything wrong with this cache (multiple DNF were the same group at the same time, not a single "Needs Maintenance"). It has happened before when people get distracted by other stumps and have looked at the wrong one (some return later and find the right one). But since I cannot check right now I do not know for sure.

With things the way they are at the moment I will not be able to check on it for some time so I will free up the space for now. (If the space is still free come spring I may replace with new hide.)

Geocache Description:

A small 300 ml camoed lock&lock cache container just steps away from the Kelso Boardwalk.

Boardwalk Beginnings Jutting out into Kelso Lake (which is actually a man-made reservoir), this new walk allows easy (and wheelchair accessible) access to the beach from boat rentals. Previously the only access to the beach was a steep walkway or the stairs straight up the valley wall, this is a much gentler stroll. Take time to enjoy a stroll along the shaded boardwalk to enjoy the peacefully calm of the lake. At the end of the boardwalk, is the site for this hidden treasure, nestled in the remains of a tree of tears.

This trail and boardwalk was installed to make access to the beach area fully accessible (formally the only access was the set of stares down a steep hill. Parking at the boat launch, this trail is paved the whole way to the boardwalk then you can take the boardwalk to the beach. Cache is just a short way from the paved trail/start of the boardwalk (but maybe just out of reach of a wheelchair on the path...I think the weeds get in the way of being truly accessible cache)

The trail and boardwalk are open to dogs but dogs are not allowed in the (human) swimming beach area. The dog swimming area is just west beside the boat launch.

Regular entrance fees apply. Day entrance fee receipt provides access to all Conservation Halton Parks for that day. Or save money (and get perks) by becoming a member. Outhouses available on site if visitors centre/ski centre is closed. Park closes at dusk!
