Restin' in Huntley United Cemetery Multi-Cache

This cache has been archived.

waxwing454: Respecting the wishes of the cemetery board committee, I have been requested to archive this listing.

It was sure one of my favourite caches that I'd put out and by reading over the logs, most of the finders enjoyed completing this multi and were pleased with the opportunity to discover this cemetery.

Geocache Description:

The Huntley United Cemetery is one of several along Carp Rd in the west end of Ottawa.  Reading the names and dates on the headstones bring to mind the pioneers of this region who made this area what it is today. If one has lived in the Ottawa for any length of time, I'm sure that some names will ring a bell since there are roads in this area named for the deceased.

As with all cemetery caches, respect for the gravesites is expected.  Please do not look for this one at night.

There are six waypoints to be found before determining the final location.

The final will be found at N45° 17.ABC W075° 58.DEF

WPA  At the posted coordinates, you will see a small square building. There are various plaques on the front of the building that give different pieces of information.  Calculate the digital root of the four digit lowest stand alone number on the front of the building.  Multiply this by 2.

WPB Continue your stroll to N45° 17.842  W075° 58.659  Here you will find the monument for the Falls.  Calculate the digital root of the second name of the youngest sister.

WPC Now, moving a bit north, proceed to N45° 17.863 W075° 58.681 Alonzo was how many years older than his wife?  Divide your answer by two.

WPD  You don't have to go far to find the headstone at N45° 17.866 W075° 58.701.  How many letters are there in Mrs. Irvine's maiden name? (Surname only)

WPE  Proceed over to N45° 17.842 W075° 58.647  How old was Mary Ann Graham when she died?  Subtract the first figure from the second figure. (Incidentally, I found at least four headstones bearing the names "Mary Ann" in this cemetery.)

WPF  Now you will be heading towards one of the oldest monuments  in the cemetery, and a rather sad one. N45° 17.832 W075° 58.669 You will need the last number of the year that Sarah and Albert died.

You will now have the values for A,B,C,D,E, and F.  You will find some similarities between the places you've been and where the cache is to be found. There is a small monetary prize for the FTFr. Thanks go out to hopper12 for beta testing this multi and finding some glaring errors. (Don't worry, they've been fixed!) Good luck!
