The park is being maintained by The Mount Mitchell Praire Guards, with their permission I have placed this cache. At the top is a monument to Captain Mitchell and the Beecher Bible and Rifle Colony. This area was donated to the Kansas State Historical Society by Captain Mitchell's son in 1953. Information and brochures are available in the parking area of the park.
The approx 1/4 mile switch back trail to the top should not be too difficult for the average person. However, the cache is only about 1/2 way up out of respect to the Ancient Indian Burial Mound at the top. Those who continue up the trail to the top will be rewarded with a amazing view!
