Weed Invasion (Waikato) Traditional Cache

.This time of year (December) Lake Ngaroto walkway takes on a new look
The track Narrows as the new growth of weed species takes hold.
Convolvulus creeps its way through everything and blackberry consumes the ferns.
Since June 2012 the first attack on weeds took place with selective plant removal and planting of new natives as well which you will see as you work your way from the car park to this cache.
A lot of clearing has been done taking care to retain certain plants.
Talking to some walkers they like the work been done and hope that some of the character will remain here..they enjoy the manuka canopy and the Black fern glades and hope that they will remain.
Just ahead of this cache is a newly planted area which features some young kauri being planted and some other selected species as well.
The reference way point added will take you to a gravel path leading to this proposed native walkway
