The Pacheco Dog Park at Pacheco Avenue and Prospect Heights was established in 2009 and is one of several off-leash parks listed in A Guide to On-Leash and Off-Leash Dog Recreational Areas in Santa Cruz County (pdf).
This park offers doggy drinking water, a few plastic patio chairs for tired pet-owners, and a nicely mulched doggy play area. It is also close to a nearby trailhead as well as another trail that runs behind some of the neighborhood houses.
In the midst of plenty of dog-loving muggles, I was able to surreptitiously take several averaged waypoint samples at this geocache's location while 1) propping my foot up on it and retying my shoelaces; 2) using it as support as I stretched out my calves; and 3) casually leaning against it as I "checked my messages and/or voicemail." I don't think anyone suspected my ulterior motives!
Please bring your own pen (and you may need some tweezers to extract the log).
